The instructions included with your order are very small, so this page is here to give you a better view of the steps needed to maximize your germination rate. These steps are essential.
- Use an emery board to gently file a small spot behind the eye of the seed. Don’t go too deeply or you may harm the embryo.
- Soak seeds in a bowl or shallow dish with a 50/50 mix of warm water and hydrogen peroxide for about 12 to 48 hours (it could take up to a week for stubborn seeds) – refresh the solution daily.
- When swollen and splitting, directly sow ½ inch in well drained soil that gets 6+ hours of sunlight, lightly covered with good soil. Keep well moist until sprout is up, seed casing has fallen and is strong enough to water only just enough depending on your climate. If the top soil is always wet, water less. If it is always dry, water a little more. Water in the morning or evening when the temperatures are not hottest.
- Watch out for birds, slugs, caterpillars, mole crickets, grasshoppers, squirrels, and raccoons – they love to eat young morning glories and dig them up.
Each variety is regularly test-germinated. If you have trouble with your seeds please let me know on eBay: jjtb4v and I will work to resolve any issue you have that I can. Thank You and Good Luck!!
